Technical Function

A mud gun directs a high-velocity stream of drilling fluid into the mud tank. The resulting turbulence and circulation help:

Main Components

1. Gun Body

3. Swivel/Rotating Assembly

On rotating models, permits the jet to be directed around the tank for improved coverage.

Mud Gun vs. Mechanical Agitator

A mud gun uses the energy of pumped drilling fluid to create agitation, while a mechanical mud agitator uses a motor-driven shaft and impeller.

Mud guns can therefore be particularly useful where an existing mud circulation system can provide the required pressure and flow.
